TINCHULEY


The word Tinchuley means three chullas or ovens. Tinchuley is a small village near Darjeeling which has become quite famous in the recent years due to the effort of the local people in developing community tourism. The leading effort comes from the Gurung family who have developed the model of homestay to suit there condition. Tinchuley eco-tourism initiative was an endeavor by the local people that converted a little know village near Darjeeling into an well known eco-tourism destination. WWF has declared tinchuley as a model village for its effort in the improvement of environment of Darjeeling and its adjoining areas with active participation from the local people. Today the villagers are engaged in floriculture, vermiculture, organic projects and eco-tourism.


Interesting to See at Tinchuley :
 

The attractions are Tinchuley Sunrise Point (the view from here is unforgettable-a view of Tista valley surrounding mountains and major places of east and south Sikkim are visible from here), Tinchuley Monastery (according to local myth a monk was meditating here for 17 years), Durpin Dara, Gombu Dara View Point, Local agricultural Farm, the river Teesta and the river Ringgit. White water rafting on the Teesta can be arranged.

How to Reach :

Airport : The nearest airport to is Bagdogra (IXB).



Rail : The closest Railway Station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP).

Much variety is not possible owing to the remoteness of the area; yet best possible food is provided under strict hygienic supervision.
